If caught in road tunnels

If (eg vehicular) explosion occurs, can get trapped within minutes.
If other vehicles also carry highly flammable cargo (yes beware ordinary paper, butter, etc, not chemically hazardous ones). So beware if vehicle bums never say flammable, still think that it is buttered bums. Smoke inhalation the main killer. Traffic flow in opp directions. Some waiting in the jam but blissfully unaware of danger ahead.

Vehicles may overheat when going up-slope. Beware wilfully or carelessly thrown cigarettes stubs & particles entering air filters can cause fire that rages. Movement slows down fire as oxygen feeds the growing fire, which if got diesel tanks fuel greatly the fire.

Emergency phones, fire-fighting aids available at intervals. Control rooms must make sure alarms not turned off, no matter how many times ppl cry "Wolves!". Control rooms can see smoke but cannot see the real situation, ie U!!!. Those already in tunnel, ganna stuck if tunnel closed to prevent further danger of fire spreading ... If control rooms do not suck out the smoke but instead blow in more air, good or rather bad luck to one!!!

Beware series of mini-explosions. Beware smoke not so much fire. Though if tunnel starved of oxygen makes it impossible to start engine. In some cases (real bad luck if contain cyanide) making it impossible for anyone to run, run, run ... Unless already cong in car, do not hesitate, only seconds not likely minutes to hell.
Must abandon vehicle & go for the nearest emergency exits or be safe for hours (not forever) at fire-proof rooms located at intervals. Smoke may enter there through ventilation ducts.

Temp > 1k, Can burn for days before firefighters can do anything.
